“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38,39).
In Christ Jesus our Lord, death is dead. It cannot kill.
In Christ Jesus our Lord, life is bigger than its circumstances. You are not defined by what happens to you. What happens to you is defined by who you are.
In Christ Jesus our Lord, angels clash with demons in spiritual warfare to protect you. And angels always win! What you thought was a bug buzzing by your ear was the swoosh of an angel’s sword swinging in your defense—it was that close.
In Christ Jesus our Lord, today is a gift. That’s why we call it the present. How you interpret today’s experiences makes a bigger difference in your life than the experiences themselves. See them in Christ, who is Jesus, your Lord.
In Christ Jesus our Lord, the future isn’t something to worry about. Nothing that happens to you tomorrow or in ten years exceeds his love, wisdom and power. Give more attention to this day, this moment.
In Christ Jesus our Lord, powers of this world are pawns for his kingdom. And you don’t belong to the world. You belong to his kingdom. You’re on the winning team.
In Christ Jesus our Lord, prayers reach higher than high stress, high taxes, high blood pressure, high prices, high risk, and high hopes.
In Christ Jesus our Lord, the roots of your faith dig deeper in him and his life-giving truth than any depths of despair.
In Christ Jesus our Lord, there is nothing that you do, nothing that happens to you, nothing you forget to do, and nothing you neglect to take care of that will make him love you any less.
PRAYER: “Hey, world. Nothing in you can separate me from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus my Lord.” I love you, Jesus. Amen.
FURTHER MEDITATION: Meditate over the next 20 minutes (or more) on each of the 9 domains above from Romans 8:38,39. Say a prayer about each using the PRAY acronym:
- Praise (tell God what you appreciate about this domain)
- Repent (tell God about your sins in this domain, focus on the gospel promise that forgives you and fills you with Jesus’ righteousness)
- Ask (go ahead, think big, or focus on a small detail, God wants to hear it all)
- Yield (talk to God about the next step after you say “Amen,” how you want faith to lead the way, how you are willing to be part of his answer and see it develop for your good)
