It doesn't matter where you start. Only that you begin...

"It doesn't matter where you start.  Only that you begin." (Robin Sharma)

That's the quote that appeared on my Momentum page this morning (that's a cool extension to Google Chrome that gives you a great picture and quote every day, and displays the current time [like a desk clock], but I digress...).

That quote hits hard for me.
I love to gather information, analyze, gather more info, analyze some more.
And sometimes never get around to beginning.
In the software business we call it analysis paralysis.

Unless there is a deadline, of course...
Then I'll wait until the point where I can't wait any more and begin.
"Procrastination University - Training Tomorrow's Leaders Tomorrow...Or Maybe the Day After."

God, through Solomon in Proverbs 3, sets the stage for successful and timely beginnings.  And doesn't leave room for procrastination.

Proverbs 3:5-8
Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
    don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
    he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Don’t assume that you know it all.
    Run to God! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,

    your very bones will vibrate with life!

Proverbs 3:11-12
But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline;
    don’t sulk under his loving correction.
It’s the child he loves that God corrects;

    a father’s delight is behind all this.

Proverbs 3:21-26
Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life;
    don’t for a minute lose sight of them.
They’ll keep your soul alive and well,
    they’ll keep you fit and attractive.
You’ll travel safely,
    you’ll neither tire nor trip.
You’ll take afternoon naps without a worry,
    you’ll enjoy a good night’s sleep.
No need to panic over alarms or surprises,
    or predictions that doomsday’s just around the corner,
Because God will be right there with you;

    he’ll keep you safe and sound.

Proverbs 3:27-28
Never walk away from someone who deserves help;
    your hand is God’s hand for that person.
Don’t tell your neighbor “Maybe some other time”
    or “Try me tomorrow”

    when the money’s right there in your pocket.

Dear Lord,
Thank you for reminding me that every beginning should start with You.
You kick me out of my analysis paralysis onto the path and say "start walking"!
I really need that kick of loving correction sometimes (OK, most times).
Love you!
Amen.
